Bobby Evans

Robert " Bobby" Evans ( * July 16th, 1927; † 1 September 2001) was a Scottish football player and coach.

Career

Evans graduated in 1944 as a junior player Celtic Glasgow. Initially striker he was converted under manager Jimmy McGrory at the half. In this position, he flourished and became the undisputed master players. Until 1960, he played more than 400 appearances for the club and became a national player. Between 1948 and 1960 he played 48 international matches - at times as a team captain - for the Scottish national team, for which he took part in the World Championships in 1954 and 1958.

From 1960, he tried his hand outside Scotland and initially played one season at Chelsea, before joining for a season as player-coach for the AFC Newport County. He then returned as a player for Greenock Morton in Scotland. In 1963 he moved to Third Lanark, where he was also active as a game coach in his second year. Between 1965 and 1968, he finished his career at Raith Rovers.
