Bobby Hendricks

Bobby Hendricks ( born February 22, 1938 ( according to other sources 1939), Columbus ( Ohio)) is an African-American soul singer.

After he had previously sung with The Flyers, he became in 1956 a member of The Swallows.

In 1957 he appeared in an opening act (The Five Crowns? ) For The Drifters, thereby impressed his lead vocal in the style of Clyde McPhatter such that the successor to Johnny Moore was offered in whose band he immediately. They took part in the same year The biggest show of stars for 1957 and toured with the likes of Paul Anka, The Diamonds, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, The Big Bopper and The Everly Brothers.

This Drifters lineup took on Bobby Hendricks Drip Drop, Moonlight Bay and Suddenly There's A Valley.

In the fall of 1958, he left them and signed a solo contract with Sue Records, among other things, the duo Ike Turner and Tina Turner and Don Covay had under contract. He had three hits to 1960 there with Itchy Twitchy Feeling, A thousand dreams and psychoanalysis.

After that, he was until 1977 a member of Bill Pinkney and the Original Drifters.

His solo career, he took again in 1977 and completed numerous appearances since then, mostly for charities.

In honor of the new millennium came in 2000 to a reunion with Bill Pinkney and the Original Drifters in the nationally televised TV show Doo Wop 51

On 13 April 2001, he became a member of the Doo Wop Hall of Fame of America.
