Bobby Militello

Philip Robert "Bobby" Militello ( born March 25, 1950 in Buffalo, New York) is an American jazz musician (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, clarinet and flute).

Bobby Militello learned - influenced by the film The Benny Goodman Story - first alto saxophone and clarinet, played with local bands in his hometown of Buffalo, and went from 1975 to 1979 with Maynard Ferguson's big band on tour. In 1980, he played in jazz clubs in Florida; then he worked as a freelance musician, first from 1981 to 1984 in Buffalo; then he worked until 1992 in Los Angeles, where he played in the orchestras of Don Menza, Bill Holman and Bob Florence. Militello took during this time also with Ferguson and Charlie Shoemake; From 1983 he played again and again in the bands of Dave Brubeck and participated in many recordings with Brubeck plate. In addition, he worked with his own bands and took several albums under his own name; he is otherwise mainly active in the music scene in Buffalo. The critic Scott Yanow called in Allmusic Bobby Militello as excellent, but underrated woodwinds.
