Bobby Stark

Bobby Stark ( born 6 January 1906 in New York; † December 29, 1946 ) was a jazz trumpeter Hot Jazz and Swing. He played in the band of Chick Webb

Life and work

Stark had initially in New York engagements with June Clark (1925 ) and an early edition of McKinney 's Cotton Pickers. 1926 and 1927 he played with Chick Webb. From 1928 to 1933 he was Fletcher Henderson's orchestra a fairly well-known soloist (as in the title " Hop Off ", " I'm Feeling Devilish ", " Feeling Good " to hear "The Wang Wang Blues "). He also worked on recordings of the Chocolate Dandies with ( " Dee Blues ," " Bugle Call Rag ", 1930) and in 1934 in Chick Webb's orchestra back ( " Midnite in Madhouse ," " Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie", 1937). Also remained strong in Webb's band, as Ella Fitzgerald took over the leadership of the band after Webb's death in 1939. In 1942 he did his military service, but was soon released due to illness from the army. In 1944 he worked with Garvin Bushell; His last recordings were in 1944 with Herbie Fields and 1945 with Benny Morton.

Stark was heavily influenced by Louis Armstrong, but developed in the course of the 1930s a personal playing style, characterized by a hot- intonation.
