Bobby Whitlock

Bobby Whitlock ( born March 18, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American keyboardist and was a member of Derek and the Dominos.

Career

Whitlock has worked as a teenager as a studio musician at Stax Records. In the late 1960s he became a member of the band Delaney, Bonnie & Friends. At this time, Eric Clapton was as lead guitarist with the band on tour. Clapton dedicated Whitlock then as a musician for his first solo album. In the meantime, Delaney, Bonnie & Friends had dissolved, Whitlock worked, meanwhile, continue with Clapton together, among other things, they played on George Harrison's first solo album after the breakup of the Beatles, All Things Must Pass. Immediately following Clapton founded the band Derek and the Dominos. Whitlock wrote five of the tracks on the album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs (among other things Tell the Truth ), along with Clapton, the piece Thorn Tree in the Garden comes entirely from his pen. He also worked as a studio musician on the Rolling Stones album Exile on Main Street.

Whitlock published in the 1970s, a total of four solo albums. It was not until the late 1990s was followed by another album. Since 2001 he has worked with CoCo Carmel, his last release was Lovers 2008.
