Boca do Inferno

The Boca do Inferno (English: Hell mouth) is a ravine in the coastal cliffs near the Portuguese town of Cascais.

The water of the Atlantic has access to the deep bottom of the gorge. At high tide the waves are pressed into the vertical " rock chimneys " and flung up on land.

Boca do Inferno was also known as a place of great charisma - to - day exercises to suicide. So here committed to the well-known poet Guilherme de Faria suicide and the British magician, occultist and poet Aleister Crowley faked his own suicide before here, so the Boca do Inferno was even known worldwide in the early 1930s.
