Boccaccio Boccaccino

Boccaccio Boccaccino (* around 1467 in Ferrara, † 1524 in Cremona ) was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance.

Life

Boccaccio studied with Ercole de ' Roberti and was later heavily under the influence of Venetian painters. Boccaccio led an eventful life and often changed his patrons and residences. In 1510 he finally settled down in Cremona. Here he created for the cathedral magnificent frescoes with scenes from the New Testament ( 1515-1519 ). His son Camillo Boccaccino was also a painter.
