Bochum-Werne

Werne is a neighborhood in Bochum and lies between Langendreer and Harpenfeld.

History

Werne was once an important mining town with coal mines colliery Amalia, Zeche Heinrich Gustav, mine Mansfeld, colliery Zeche Robert Müser and Full Moon. Werne was incorporated to Bochum on 1 August 1929.

Infrastructure

Meeting of Werner citizens are the Werner Savings Bank, the Aldi supermarket at Werner Hellweg, the retirement home in the street " on the Kiekbast " with many events in the summer, the highly frequented by Foreign pool Werne, youth leisure club YMCA or other recreational clubs, for example the Erich Brühmann house. Worth seeing is the pond or Werner Werner Park.

One can well reach the Ruhr-Park mall of Werne from. Good shopping facilities exist in the district center at Werner Hellweg.

Education

The Willy -Brandt -Gesamtschule has about 1300 students the opportunity to gain a good education.

Traffic

Werne is well connected to public transport. The bus lines 345, 355, 364, 366 and 370 pass through the district. In the neighboring district Langendreer there are two S-Bahn stops, served by the line S1 Dortmund Dusseldorf S-Bahn Rhein- Ruhr.
