Bodajk

Bodajk [ bodɒjk ] ( German Wudeck ) is a city in Hungary. Bodajk has about 4000 inhabitants and is situated in the northwestern part of Fejér county.

Geographical location

Bodajk located about 70 km south-west of Budapest, at the northeastern foot of the Bakony mountain in which, the mountains separated by Vertes Móri Trench. You can reach Bodajk excellent: from the main road number 81 abbiegend, the train station is on the railway line Székesfehérvár - Komárom.

History

The area is considered to be inhabited since the Stone Age. The first written record dates from 1193. Photo shows Built in 1839 the castle. On a hill above the village there is a Way of the Cross from 1736, which offers a good view of the surroundings.

Bodajk is one of the oldest Mary Grace species in Hungary. Some historians believe that their healing source was honored in the 19th century. According to legend were here Sankt Stefan, St. Imre, St. Gellért and Saint László. In the Middle Ages it was a royal property, and later it belonged to the Krezrittet of Székesfehérvár, the Rozgonyi and Nádasdy family. After the fall in 1543 it came under Turkish rule until the 18th century. East of the Way of the Cross is the built in 1839 neoclassical stronghold - Lamberg Castle.

Twinning

Since 1992 there has been twinned with the Hessian town of Rödermark.
