Bodysurfing

When Bodysurfing is a subspecies of the classic surfing. Bodysurfing is mainly characterized in that the surfer the wave without any aid only with his body like a surfboard riding.

History

Bodysurfing was first practiced in 1969 under that name by Siegfried Uhlmann and his sons and Bernd Arno in Brittany. Today ( 2012) Johannes Uhlmann, grandson of Siegfried Uhlmann, in Europe one of the dominant players in this sport. Significantly more popularity than in Europe has become in the U.S. bodysurfing. So every year takes place the Pipeline Bodysurfing Classic Contest in Hawaii.
