Madina do Boé (short Boé; rare Boé Madina, Medina de Boé ) is a town in the southeastern region of Guinea- Bissau. It is located in the region Gabú, one of the poorest areas in all of Guinea- Bissau.

Population

In Madina do Boé and in the area (radius 7 km ) is about 722 people. The inhabitants are almost exclusively African. The majority professes to Islam and lives in small villages.

Geography

The city of Madina do Boé is in the Guinea-Bissau government sector Gabú in the east of the country. It is not far from the border to Guinea. Boe is also the name of the same region ( district ), in which the village lies. There are about 72 villages. The average annual temperature is about 25 ° C. The town is located 76 m above sea level.

Madina do Boé is located about 150 km from Guinea-Bissau's capital Bissau. Places in the surrounding area are eg Sare Ussamane (about 3 km), Sebere Dandun (about 4 km) and Bantanja (about 4 km).

History

In early February 1969, drew the Portuguese army withdrew from the area. 47 Portuguese soldiers were killed when they crossed the Rio Corubal.
