Geography
Geographical Location
The Samtgemeinde Boffzen forms the southernmost part of the district of Minden wood and extends over a length of approximately 15 km on the eastern bank of the Weser; the Weser here forms the border with North Rhine -Westphalia. The tri-border region of Lower Saxony, North Rhine -Westphalia and Hesse is south a few kilometers away. In the east, the Municipality with Derental reaches far into the Solling.
On the western bank of the Weser Hoexter is just 2 km away.

History
On 1 January 1973 as part of local government reform in Lower Saxony Boffzen the Municipality was established. The local government reform was considered critical of in advance of the communities. Meinbrexen, Furstenberg, Lauenfoerde, Derental and Boffzen wanted to get together, but with the gain of Neuhaus im Solling and Silberborn as it was proposed in 1971. Neuhaus and Silberborn however, came to the town of Minden wood. Remained controversial in the beginning of the name and location of the new integrated municipality. In Lauenfoerde, which belonged to the district Northeim until then, they wanted to be not quite come to terms with Boffzen as the seat and Samtgemeinde name and suggested as a compromise the name " Samtgemeinde Schlossberg ". Boffzen again offered the alternative name " Samtgemeinde Sollingtor " to. When voting in the various councils of the name " Samtgemeinde Boffzen " sat down but then by.
In December 1996, 7,986 residents lived in the integrated municipality.

Museums
- Porcelain Museum in Fürstenberg castle, which belongs to the Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory
- Glass Museum Boffzen. It is also founded by Hermann Hebbel permanent exhibition of life and work of the Upper Hunter Johann Georg von Langen of 1699-1776 to visit.
Economy and infrastructure
The Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory, founded in 1747, is the third-oldest porcelain factory in Germany.
For the Municipality of tourism is an important economic factor, and Derental Furstenberg were by the end of 2010 officially recognized resorts. On the Weser are Dampferfahrten an attraction on its banks, the well-developed bike paths.
1866, the glassworks Bartling & Co. was founded in Boffzen, a year later it was renamed the glass factory stone width at Hoexter Schmidt & Witte. As of 1874, the company operated under the name Noelle & von Campe Glashütte Brückfeld and 1896, the work was expanded. Since 1934, the manufacturer of glass packaging bears the name Noelle & von Campe Glashütte GmbH.
