Southern bog lemming ( Synaptomys cooperi )

The bog lemmings lemmings or mice ( Synaptomys ) are a genus of mammals of the family of voles. They are assigned to the tribe of Lemmini. These are two species that live in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada in wet meadows and moorland and create colonies of about 30 individual animals. The distribution area of the occurring throughout northern North America Northern bog lemmings is very patchy. This has led to the formation of several sub- types.

Bog lemmings are about 8 to 13 inches long and have a tail of two centimeters in length. The females give birth to two to three times a year for one to four pups.
