Bogdan Popović

Bogdan Popović ( born December 20 1863jul / January 1 1864greg in Belgrade. . † November 7, 1944 in Belgrade ) was a Serbian literary critic.

Life

Popović first studied in Belgrade and then in Paris at the Sorbonne. In 1893 he became a professor of literary history at the Velika skola and taught from 1905 comparative literature at the University of Belgrade. He pointed to the young Serbian poet generation the way from the national narrowing to the west and aesthetic values. Popović also translated from the French in 1901 and founded the influential literary magazine for decades Serbian Srpski knijzevni glasnik.
