Bogdan Stelea

Bogdan Gheorghe stelea ( born December 5, 1967 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football goalkeeper and current coach. He played a total of 379 games in the Romanian Liga 1, Spanish Primera División, the Belgian Eerste Klasse, the Turkish Süper Lig and the Greek Alpha Ethniki. As an international, he participated in the World Championships 1990, 1994 and 1998 and at the European Championships in 1996 and 2000. Since 2013, he serves the Romanian U-21 national team.

Club career

Stelea began his career in the children and youth of Dinamo Bucharest, where he came to his first game in Divizia A on 20 November 1986. During the winter break of the season 1991/92 he moved to Spain to RCD Mallorca. For the 1993/94 season he moved to Belgium for top club Standard Liege. However, after only three games for the Liège he moved to the beginning of the 1994/95 season back in his hometown to Rapid Bucharest. In autumn 1994, he left Rapid and went for the rest of the 1994/95 season in Turkey to Samsunspor. After just one season he moved back to his home to Steaua Bucharest.

For the 1997/98 season signed with the Spanish club UD Salamanca stelea. Despite decline in the Segunda División in 1999, he remained loyal to the club. In the 2001 /02 season, he spent the second half of the season on loan to Rapid Bucharest. Then he returned to Salamanca back and played there until July 2004. For the season 2004 /05 he moved to his hometown club Dinamo Bucharest. At the beginning of the 2005/06 season he played for half a year for the Greek club Akratitos Ano Liosia before he had to leave it again for financial reasons. For the rest of the season he was at Oţelul Galaţi under contract, but did not play.

In the summer of 2006 stelea changed for Unirea Urziceni, which had risen just in the league 1. After he came to only a few missions due to injuries in the first year, he was a regular in the season 2007 /08. In 2008 he moved to league rivals FC Braşov, where at the age of 41 years, he ended his career a year later.

National

Stelea was 1988-2005 a total of 91 times in goal for the Romanian national football team. With her he participated in three World Cups in part: In 1990, he came not as a substitute goalkeeper Silviu Lung used, 1994, he was after the first two group matches replaced by Florin Prunea and 1998 he was at all matches of Romania in the gate. He also starred in two European Football Championships (1996 and 2000) in the Romanian squad.

Coaching career

From 2009 until his resignation in June 2011 stelea was assistant to Razvan Lucescu at the Romanian national team. In the summer of 2012, he was briefly head coach of Astra Giurgiu. On August 19, 2013, sparked Emil Săndoi from as coach of the Romanian U-21 national team.

Awards

On 25 March 2008 stelea was " sporty Meritul " III by Romanian President Traian Basescu for the achievements in the national team with the Order of Merit. Class excellent. He is Honored Master of Sports.

Others

Stelea is married to his second wife. His son from his first marriage, Bogdan Stelea junior ( * 1991), is also football player. He made his debut October 17, 2009 at left-back for CS Otopeni in the League II After graduating from an unsuccessful trial at FC Viitorul Constanta in the summer of 2010, initially, then he moved into the League III to CS Voluntari. Since the end of June 2011, he plays for Dinamo Bucharest II.
