Bogno

Bogno was up on April 13, 2013 a municipality in the district Sonvico, district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

New the former municipalities Bogno, Certara, Cimadera and Valcolla belong to the new Lugano neighborhood Val Colla.

Geography

Bogno is in the upper Val Colla, at the southern foot of the 2116 m high Gazzirola. The headwaters of the Cassarate unite here. The San Lucio Pass (1541 m) leads from here to the Italian Val Cavargna.

History

Already in the 13th century it was mentioned as BONIO. The San Rocco church was expanded from the 1591 and 1780 was the religious center of the community, which broke up in 1811 by the parish Colla.

Economy

As a result of alpine and grazing a settlement to which since 1856 a road from Lugano leads emerged. Today, second homes and holiday homes are of recreation seekers from the agglomeration of Lugano in place.

Population

The 20 fireplaces in 1591 developed up to 480 people. As a result of emigration due to insufficient earnings in the valley, the population is today but much smaller.
