Bohemian Crown Jewels

The crown jewels of the Kingdom of Bohemia and Moravia were the insignia of the Bohemian monarchy.

The Wenceslas crown is the crown of the former Kingdom of Bohemia. It is the oldest part of the Bohemian crown jewels. Of these older insignia of the royal orb, the royal scepter and the royal mantle are preserved except the crown yet. More later insignia include the funeral crown of Ottokar II and other silver plated scepter and orb from the 3rd quarter of the 14th century, preserved in the treasury in Vienna.

The Crown Jewels are currently stored in the Prague Castle in Prague. You are there in the crown jewels room that is secured by a door which can be opened with six keys and another seventh key is required to open an iron safe in the jewel chamber. The keys are held by seven officers: President of the Czech Republic, the Prime Minister, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Prague, the parliamentary speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate chairman, the dean of St. Vitus Cathedral and the Mayor of Prague.
