Bohemond III of Antioch

Bohemond III. of Antioch, known as the stutterer, French Bohemond III d' Antioch le Begue, (* 1144, † 1201) was Prince of Antioch 1163-1201.

He was the son of Constance of Antioch and her first husband Raymond of Poitiers.

Marriage and issue

Bohemond was married four times, each time with a woman who had been married before:

  • In 1160 he married in Constantinople Opel Irene Komnena ( William of Tyre calls them Theodora ), a niece of the Byzantine emperor Manuel I.. Bohemond After his divorce sent them back to Konstantin Opel. Irene's first husband is unknown. With Irene, he had two daughters: Konstanze;

Life

In 1164 he was captured by Nur ad -Din after he was advised by Konstantin Koloman, Raymond of Tripoli and Hugh of Lusignan in the Battle of Artah ambushed and taken in chains to Aleppo. He was released only ten years later.

1181 left Bohemond Orguilleuse to take a woman named Sibyl to himself, according to the not always reliable William of Tyre, a whore.
