Bohuslav

Bohuslaw (Ukrainian Богуслав; Russian Богуслав / Boguslaw ) is a city in the south of Kiev Oblast in Ukraine with about 16,000 inhabitants ( 2013).

The city lies on the banks of the Ros 120 km south of Kiev and is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

History

The village was founded in 1032 by the Wise Yaroslav. 1240 Bohuslaw was destroyed by the Mongol- Tatar hordes. Since 1362 Bohuslaw part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and after the Union of Lublin in 1569 to Poland - Lithuania. 1620 Bohuslaw received the Magdeburg rights. During the Khmelnytsky Uprising and the Russo- Polish War, the city came under various dominions until they again went through the Treaty of Andrussowo in 1667 in Poland.

1793, the city was, along with the entire right bank Ukraine, part of the Russian Empire. 1919, the city fell to the Soviet Union. 1923 Bohuslaw was the administrative center of the newly established Rajon and 1938 the city status for Bohuslaw was renewed. From 1941 to 1943, which, occupied by troops of the Wehrmacht, the city part of the Reich Commissariat Ukraine. After the liberation by the Red Army Bohuslaw fell to the USSR again, and finally in 1991, part of the now independent Ukraine.
