Boissy-sans-Avoir
Boissy -sans- Avoir is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île- de -France region. It belongs to the district Rambouillet and the Canton of Montfort l'Amaury. The village has 578 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).
Name
The name comes from the Latin Boissy buxiacum. The name of the place goes back to the motto of the Lords of Boissy: "Sans Peur avoir " " ( No fear ).
Geography
Boissy -sans- Avoir is located about 50 kilometers as the crow flies west of Paris at an altitude 77-116 m above sea level, the average height is 95 m. The municipality covers 3.96 km ² ( 396 ha), and the population density is 131 inhabitants per km ². The place is surrounded by agricultural land and little forest. Neighboring communities include Garancières west, south Galluis, Auteuil north and Vicq in the east.
