Bokhorst

Bokhorst is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography and transport

Bokhorst lies about 5 km west of Schenefeld and 14 km north of Itzehoe in a rural environment. The Federal Highway 23 runs through the community.

History

The area was probably settled as early as the 16th century, the place itself, however, was founded in 1932 by the establishment of several new farming families.

In Bokhorst there is a mansion that once belonged to the same asset.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2013, the voters Community GWB has all seven seats on the municipal council.

The name of the municipality Bokhorst derives from " Buchenghölz " to which the four stylized Buchenblätter point. The mansion of the eponymous estate Bokhorst forms the main character, the shaft calves refers to the district Supreme weir, a part of the municipality Bokhorst enclave in which the Wilsterau runs as boundary waters. The color green represents the importance of agriculture in the community.
