Bold (Band)

Bold is an American hardcore punk band, which was founded in 1985 in Katonah, Westchester County, New York. She was next to bands like Youth of Today and Side by Side is an important part of the straight edge movement of the 1980s.

Band History

The band was founded under the name Crippled Youth of singer and guitarist Matt Warnke, bassist Tim Brooks and drummer Drew Thomas. After a few performances in which Warnke sang and played the guitar, guitarist John came "Zulu " Zuluaga the band in so Warnke only occupied the post of the singer. They published in 1986, a 7 " EP called Join the Fight at the Californian label New Beginning. Afterwards they changed their name to Bold to. Afterwards they took the LP Speak Out on. Should be published on the Californian label Wishingwell Records, but was eventually released in 1988 on Revelation Records.

Later, with Tom Capone ( Shelter, Quicksand ) gave a second guitarist to the band. Together they recorded in 1989 named after them a 7 "single, which included a total of five songs. It was published on Revelation Records. The single was 1993 under the name ' Looking Back 12 " - published record. It contained two additional songs. The band split up in 1989 for the time being.

In 2005, the band reunited. Warnke took over the vocals, Capone the electric guitar, the bass and Brooks Vinny Panza the drums. John Porcelly, who had already played in the 1980s with the band, the band was also later joined as a second guitarist. She played a few concerts and Revelation Records released the CD The Search: 1985-1989 in 2005, which contained all the previous works of the band.

Warnke and Porcelly left the band briefly in 2006, but joined the band again soon.

Details of some members

  • Matt Warnke sang for the band One -Sided War in the late 1990s and founded after Running Like Thieves. The band was named after a song by Bold. The band released two EPs at Livewire Records. Then he got out of the band and joined Bold, who had meanwhile reunited on.
  • Drew Thomas in 1990 founded the band Into Another with ex - underdog singer Richie. In the 1990s, they released several records and eventually separated again. Thomas also played drums for The New Rising Sons. The band was led by ex - Texas Is the Reason member Garret Klahn. They released two EPs on the label Grape OS and then signed a contract with Virgin Records. The band broke up again, even before the album was completed.
  • Tom Capone played in the 1990s in various bands such as Quicksand, Handsome and Instruction. He then played briefly in the reunified Bold.
  • John Zuluaga is currently playing at The Hoof.
