Bolesław Jerzy II of Mazovia

Bolesław of Mazovia ( also Bolesław George II, Ukrainian Юрій - Болеслав II Тройденович, Polish Bolesław Jerzy II Trojdenowicz, latin Boleslaw II Trojden de dux et dominus natus Masovia Russiae; * 1308, † April 7, 1340 in Volodymyr ) was from 1323 when Yuri II, Prince of Halych - Volodymyr. He came from the Mazovia line of the Piast dynasty. He was a great-great- grandson of Conrad I, Duke of Mazovia.

Life

Bolesław was born the son of the Duke of Mazovia Trojden I. and Mary of Halych - Volodymyr under the name Bolesław. In 1323 the ruling dynasty of Halych - Volodymyr died out in the male line. The nephew of the last ruler Bolesław of Mazovia, became his successor. He was kinship connected to both the Polish, as well as with the Lithuanian ruling family. As Bolesław was, however, poisoned in 1340 because of alleged favoritism of the Catholics of his boyars, a fight broke between the emerging Eastern European great powers Poland and Lithuania to the gene pool of the Principality of Halych - Volodymyr of which eventually ended in a division of the empire. The territory of the Principality of Halych (Galicia ) went to the Kingdom of Poland, the Principality of Volodymyr ( Volhynia ) of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
