Bolingbrook is a village which lies mainly in Will County and a smaller portion in DuPage County northeast of the U.S. state of Illinois and is part of the metropolitan Chicago region.

In 2000 Bolingbrock had 56 321 inhabitants, by 2008 the number had risen to 70 834

History

1965 Bolingbrook was established as a municipality with its own administration. The first Mayor was John J. Leonard, who was police chief at the same time at the beginning and brought in his house the police station and garage. The church grew to 1970 to 7,000 inhabitants.

After a strong population growth and the incorporation of many neighboring settlements, there were already 37,000 inhabitants in 1980. By 1990, this number rose to 41,000, 2007, the previous maximum of 75,000 inhabitants was reached.
