Bollodingen

Was Bollodingen until 31 December 2010, a municipality in the Oberaargau the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

On 1 January 2011 merged with the municipality Bollodingen Bettenhausen.

Geography

Bollodingen is located on 476 m above sea level. M., 2 km south of Herzogenbuchsee and 8 km southwest of the town of Langenthal ( straight line ). The village street lines extending in the plane of Önztals, at the Oenz near the confluence of the Altachen, on the northern edge of the Molassehügellandes the higher central plateau ( Buchsiberge ), in the Upper Aargau.

The area of ​​2.0 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the northern Bernese Mittelland. The central part of the area occupied by the 1 km wide level of Önztals. The Oenz flows in its middle section in a valley that was a long time on the edge of the glacial Rhone Glacier and served as meltwater channel. The valley is flanked on the west by the amount of Steinhofgründe, part of which the upper timber (up to 535 m above sea level. M. ) nor to Bollodingen. Population

With 205 inhabitants ( 31 December 2010) Bollodingen was one of the small communities of the Canton of Bern. Of the residents 98.6 % are German, 0.9 % French-speaking and 0.5 % speak English (as of 2000). The population of Bollodingen amounted in 1850 to 274 residents in 1900 to 239 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population increased to 1980 slightly to 201 people. Since then, a slight increase in population was recorded again.

Economy

Bollodingen was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, agriculture, fruit growing ( near the village ) and livestock an important place in the economic structure of the population. Some other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available, including operations of the mechanical engineering and window construction. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the region Langenthal - Herzogenbuchsee.

Traffic

The community is located off of the larger passage axes, but is from the regional center Herzogenbuchsee and forth from the main road Burgdorf- Langenthal easily accessible. By bus, which operates direct flight from Herzogenbuchsee to Langenthal, Bollodingen is connected to the public transport network.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1262 under the name Polat rings. Later, the names Bolathingen ( 1266 ), Boll things ( 1533) appeared, Bollondingen ( 1554 ) and Bollodingen ( 1850). The etymology of the place name is not clear. Bollodingen probably goes back to the Old High German personal name Boll hardware and thus means for the people of the Boll Hard.

In the Middle Ages was under Bollodingen the Kyburg Landgraviate Burgundy. Since the 13th century, a local noble family is mentioned, which bore the name of the village. Also, the St. Urban Monastery and the Solothurn Stein family owned land in the municipality. In 1406 Bollodingen came under Bernese rule and the bailiwick cheeks was assigned. Bollodingen formed in a district court. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ), the village belonged to the district during the Helvetic Republic from 1803 to the cheeks and upper cheeks Office, which received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831.

Attractions

In the center some characteristic farmhouses of the Bernese country style from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved. Bollodingen does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Herzogenbuchsee.
