Bolsa de Valores de Montevideo

The Bolsa de Valores de Montevideo ( BVM ) is the stock exchange of Montevideo.

The headquarters of the existing 1867 Exchange is located in the Ciudad Vieja on Calle Misiones 1400 in the building of the Bolsa de Comercio. Both new missions as well as buying and selling already traded securities are settled there. The annual transaction volume amounts to about 3 billion U.S. dollars. The market is managed by a seven stockbrokers existing as members of Board ( Consejo Directivo ), whose composition changes on a yearly basis. In support exists both a fiscal Commission ( Comisión Fiscal ) and an ethics examination commission (Tribunal de Ética ). Both bodies are also occupied with stockbrokers. The IMEBO is the most important stock index of the BVM. Another index is the BVMBG.
