Bolshoi Ballet

The Bolshoi Ballet is a Russian ballet company, which has been based at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. With more than 200 dancers, it forms the largest ballet company in the world.

The Tsarist

The Bolshoi Ballet grew out of a 1773 dance school founded by a Moscow orphanage. The year 1776 is considered the founding year of the company. It provided dancers for the Petrovsky Theatre was founded in 1780 and after its fire in 1805 on a transitional basis for the Arbat Theatre.
