Bonaventure Kalou

Bonaventure Kalou (born 12 January 1978 Oumé ) is a former Ivorian football player. He has besides the Ivorian also Dutch citizenship.

Career

Association

The Ivorian winger started his professional career at ASEC Mimosas in July 1995 and moved in July 1997 to the Dutch football club Feyenoord, with whom he surprisingly won the UEFA Cup with a 3-2 over Borussia Dortmund in 2002. Kalou played with up to 76 minutes before he was substituted for Johan Elmander. In July 2003, it undertook the AJ Auxerre, where he helped with the ultimate Endspieltor for French Cup victory. Kalou remained there until June 2005, then moved for 8.5 million euros to Paris Saint- Germain FC. In summer 2007, Kalou went for 1.5 million euros for RC Lens, but changed already in September 2007 to the United Arab Emirates, Al- Jazira Club. After a period without a club he moved Kalou in the summer of 2008 back to Europe and he hired the Dutch first division club SC Heerenveen. During the winter break of the season 2009/10 he left Heerenveen, before almost a year later ended his career.

National

On the final day of the World Cup qualifying he managed with the national team of the Ivory Coast surprising to participate in the World Cup 2006.

So far, Bonaventure Kalou came on 51 missions in the national team and was able to achieve 12 goals. For the African Cup of Nations but was not nominated.

His younger brother Salomon wanted to play at the 2006 World Cup for the Netherlands. Thus it would have in the World Cup preliminary round match Netherlands can come to a sibling match against the Ivory Coast in Stuttgart, but failed naturalization. Solomon plays since then, like his brother Bonaventure Kalou, in the national team of the Ivory Coast.

In the third and final group game at the soccer World Cup in 2006 he succeeded against Serbia, a penalty, the winning goal for 3:2. That last group game was also Bonaventure Kalou's last international appearance.
