Boniface de Castellane

Esprit -Victor -Elisabeth -Boniface, comte de Castellane ( born March 26, 1788 in Lyon, † September 16, 1862 ) was a French general and Marshal of France.

Life

The Comte de Castellane came from altadliger family, joined the army in 1804, making 1806 the Italian and the Spanish campaign in 1808 as a cavalry lieutenant and acquired in 1809 at the Battle of Wagram the cross of the Legion of Honour.

In the Russian campaign of 1812 he was a captain and adjutant of the Count of Lobau. After Napoleon's fall, he went on to equal the Bourbons. 1822 Colonel of Hussars, he made 1823 the Spanish campaign with and led a cavalry brigade since 1830.

He lived in 1832, the Siege of Antwerp, and was then lieutenant general and commander of the army in the Pyrenees. 1837 raised to the pair, he was a short time in the army in Africa. Robbed by the February Revolution of 1848 his command, he then joined to Louis Napoleon, who appointed him shortly before the coup as the commander of Lyons, where he promoted the cause of the President eagerly. For this he was in 1852 appointed Senator and 2 December marshal. Later, he was given command in Lyon.
