Bonnet Plume River

The Bonnet Plume River is the right tributary of the Peel River in the Yukon Territory in Canada.

Its source is in the Backbone Ranges on the border with the Northwest Territories. It flows the hill country in a northwesterly direction, then in a northerly direction. Here, the river valley of the Bonnet Plume River separates the eastern Bonnet Plume Mountains of the westerly Wernecke Mountains. The Bonnet Plume River is considered one of the most inaccessible rivers of North America.

The most common tree species are black spruce, white spruce, Western balsam poplar, aspen, larch, alder and willow.

To native wildlife, moose, black bear, grizzly bear, wolf, beaver, muskrat and a large number of small animals and birds are found.

The Bonnet Plume is a popular river for several weeks whitewater kayak tours and Canadians.

The Bonnet Plume is one of the protected rivers of the Canadian Heritage Rivers System.
