Bonnevaux (Haute-Savoie)

Bonnevaux is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Bonnevaux is located on 904 m above sea level. M., 17 km east-southeast of the town of Thonon -les- Bains ( straight line ). The mountain village is located in the Chablais, on a Verebnungsfläche on the western flank of the Dranse d' Abondance, in the northern Savoy Alps.

The area of ​​7.82 km ² municipal area includes a section of the Vallée d' Abondance. The valley is oriented from south to north in the area of Bonnevaux and here has a bottleneck. To the west, the municipality's area covers the mountain range that separates the Vallée d' Abondance valley from the Dranse de Morzine. The Col du Corbier ( 1237 m above sea level. M. ) is a relatively easy transition into this valley dar. north of the pass is on Mont Ouzon with 1881 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Bonnevaux. Only a small proportion of the soil community is located east of the Dranse d' Abondance. The area ranges here on the slopes of the Pointe d' Autigny.

To Bonnevaux include the hamlet cents Fontaine (814 m above sea level. M. ) and La Solitude (830 m above sea level. M. ) in the valley of the Dranse d' Abondance and Le Sommet (940 m above sea level. M. ) on the climb to the Col du Corbier. Neighboring communities of Bonnevaux are Vacheresse in the north, the east and Le Biot Abondance and La Baume in the West.

History

The village is first mentioned in the Middle Ages under the Latinized name Bona vallis and Bonnovallis. Previously Bonnevaux belonged to the territory of the abbey of Sainte -Marie- d'Abondance. It was not until 1835 Bonnevaux was an independent municipality, previously it was part of Vacheresse.

The present church of Bonnevaux was built in 1964.

Population

With 244 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bonnevaux is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In recent decades, a slight growth of the total population was recorded.

Economy and infrastructure

Bonnevaux is a predominantly agricultural village today. The village is located off the major thoroughfares of the local road that leads over the Col du Corbier. But it is easily accessible from the main road through the Vallée d' Abondance.
