Bonnie Dobson

Bonnie Dobson ( born November 13, 1940 in Toronto ) is a Canadian folk singer and songwriter.

She lived and toured in the first half of the 1960s, mainly in the USA. Because of their bright soprano voice, she was, among others, Joan Baez compared without, however, come close to reaching their popularity or commercial success. She accompanied herself on the guitar and interpreted their own titles, songs from other songwriters Fred Neil or Gordon Lightfoot and traditionals.

Her most famous song she wrote in 1961 with the apocalyptic sounding ballad " Morning Dew ", which by a revised version of Tim Rose became a folk rock standard in 1967, which has since been was covered by numerous artists of different styles. At their most prestigious include The Grateful Dead, Nazareth, Episode Six, or Robert Plant, stylistically idiosyncratic revisions are the Members of Long John Baldry, Devo or Einstürzende Neubauten. Dobson has achieved this title in 1969 once again recorded on the album " Bonnie Dobson " with orchestral arrangement.

In 1969 she moved to England, where they still recorded some albums in the following years, however in 1980 retired from the music business.
