Bonyad

Bonyads are foundations in Iran.

Today there are about 120 Bonyads that have a large share of Iran's gross domestic product. According to the French embassy in Iran Quds Rezavi Astana, with a turnover of 14 billion U.S. dollars in the largest landowner Iran and responsible for the pilgrimage site of Ali ar - Rida in Mashhad. The Bonyad -e Mostazafan va Janbazan ( Foundation of the Oppressed and War Veterans ) has a turnover of 10 billion U.S. dollars a year. Both foundations are under the direct Seyyed Alī Chamene'i.

History

Reza Shah Pahlavi, his son Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and his wife Farah Pahlavi Schahbanu founded numerous charitable foundations of public welfare and for support of science, art and culture, such as the Bonyad -e Farhang -e Iran.

After the Islamic Revolution of 1979, the foundations were either disbanded or transferred to new foundations. Other foundations caused by seizures of money and immovable property of the former upper class.

The Iranian Majlis (parliament) in 2002 raised the tax exemption of Bonyads on.
