Boock

Boock is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). Is administered by the Office Boock Löcknitz Penkun based in the community Löcknitz.

Geography

The municipality is located north of Boock Löcknitz between Randowbruch and the border with the Republic of Poland, 20 kilometers west of Stettin.

History

1299, the village was first mentioned.

Community

Characteristic is the main street of the village, which is lined with linden trees and manicured gardens. Local attractions include the 500 year old stone church and the parched Achtersee. This meadow can be seen specially protected orchids. According to a legend is a ton of gold come to light every 100 years here. " Gold ton " is also a restaurant in the resort. Near Boock is a recently reconstructed Dutch mill from the 17th century. In Boock regularly hosts club or festivals. It has the nationally known " Boocker Dörpschaft " a good reputation. The population of Boock rose from 629 in 1993 to 706 in 1999 to, since it is slightly down.

  • On an old school grounds a home office " Üns Heimatstuf " was established in 1999. Here and in an open area various handicraft items from the past are exhibited.
  • Since 1987, in Boock the brass ensemble of the protestant church. It consists of about 20 members. Is blown, inter alia, birthdays, local events and church services.

Transport links

Six kilometers south of State Road 104 runs Boock of Pasewalk to Stettin. In Pasewalk is connected by national highway 20 ( Baltic Sea motorway ). In the near Löcknitz consists rail connection.
