Boogaloo Joe Jones

" Boogaloo Joe" Jones (actually Ivan Joseph Jones, born 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American jazz guitarist.

Life and work

Jones was involved in the second half of the 1960s at Soul Jazz Sessions by Prestige Records, including Richard Holmes, Wild Bill Davis, Houston Person, and finally Willis Jackson in the late 1970s, with whom he performed in the Netherlands. In 1970 he took part in a session with Lee Morgan, Hubert Laws and Harold Mabern. Under his own name originated from 1967 a series of recordings for Prestige, where Ron Carter, Ben Dixon, Bernard Purdie, Rusty Bryant, Sonny Phillips and Charles Earland participated. The sessions were z.T. in the series Legends of Acid Jazz reissued. In the field of Jazz Jones is heard 1966-1978 on 17 Recording Sessions.
