Boom operator (media)

The sound assistant ( anglers or Boomman derived from engl. Boom operator ) is the member of a film crew.

The task of the assistants on set is to help the sound engineer to take a direct sound as possible. This often happens with a microphone attached to a boom pole, which is held as close to the mouth of an actor. However, neither the boom pole, nor its shadow can be seen in the image.
