Boone County (Indiana)

Boone County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lebanon.

Geography

The County is located just west of the geographic center of Indiana and has an area of 1096 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clinton County, Hamilton County, Marion County, Hendricks County and Montgomery County.

History

Boone County was formed on January 29, 1830 from parts of Hendricks County and Marion County. It was named after Daniel Boone, an American pioneer and frontiersman who explored the so-called Wilderness Trail and the town of Boonesborough in Kentucky founded.
