Boortmeerbeek is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 11,967 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It lies on the left bank of the Dyle 8 km southeast of Mechelen and comprises the main town and the village of Hever.

Leuven is miles south east Brussels about 20 km southwest of Antwerp and 28 km north-west.

The next highway exits are located at Weerde and Mechelen on the A 1 / E 19 and Wilsele and lions on the A 2

The community has a regional railway station on the line Antwerp - Mechelen- Leuven. The Brussels National Airport near the capital, is an international airport and the Antwerp Airport is the nearest regional airport.

The XX. convoy

The place after the Second World War by the action of three young members of the Resistance from Brussels, which on 19 April 1943 at Boortmeerbeek a transport train with 1631 Belgian Jews deported and Roma, which was determined from Mechelen to Auschwitz stopped, and under attack became known the German guards could break a sealed with barbed wire car and free 17 people.
