Booted macaque

The Grauarmmakak (Macaca ochreata ) is a primate of the species of macaques within the family Cercopithecidae ( Cercopithecidae ). He is on the island belonging to Indonesia Sulawesi ( Celebes ) endemic.

Grauarmmakaken owe their name to the ockerbau colored arms. The lower legs are colored gray, which is why they in English Booted Macaque ( " Puss in macaque " ) are mentioned. The rest of the fur is dark gray or black, as is the hairless face. The animals reach a body length of 50 to 60 centimeters, the tail is 3 to 6 inches long.

This primates inhabit the Southeast Sulawesi, their habitats are mainly rain forests. Little is known about their way of life. Like most species of macaques live together in mixed groups consisting of several males, females and young animals. They are diurnal and live mainly on the trees, keeping, however, sometimes at the bottom.

The food of Grauarmmakaken consists of fruits, bamboo shoots, leaves and insects. Sometimes they fall one on plantations and devour the crops.

Even on the level of danger of this kind is not known how many other animals of Sulawesi, but they should be pulled through the clearing of forests affected.
