Borgo Valsugana

Borgo Valsugana ( German outdated castle in Valsugana ) is an Italian commune in the province of Trento with 6906 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The image of the historic center is characterized by the long Arcades and the Brenta River.

History

Borgo until 1919 belonged to the princely county of Tyrol and thus to Austria - Hungary. Borgo Valsugana was a k.u.k. Garrison town and in 1914 the site of the Czech Military Police Battalion No. 22

Sports

The 17th stage of the Giro d' Italia in 1988 ended in Borgo with the victory of Patrizio Gambirasio.

Cultural Events

Every two years since 1986 in the summer of the "Arte Sella " instead, an exhibition of modern art in nature. The works can be viewed along a roughly three -mile path.

The artist Erika Giovanna Klien was born here. Borgo is also known as the adopted home of Alcide De Gasperi, who married here a long time of his life here and died here in August 1954. According to him, the Town Hall Square, the association of high schools and the " Sala De Gasperi " was named.
