Boris Alexandrov

Boris Viktorovich Alexandrov (Russian Борис Викторович Александров; born November 13, 1955 in Ust- Kamenogorsk, Kazakh SSR, † July 31, 2002 near Chelyabinsk, Russia ) was a Russian- Kazakh hockey player and coach.

Playing career

During his career, the artist born in the former Soviet Union striker for CSKA Moscow HK, HK Spartak and Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk. In all, he scored 177 goals in 224 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On November 11, 1975, he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1976. For the national team, he scored 4 goals in 19 internationals. On 21 December 1977 he played his last international match. His last active season 1989/90 he spent at Milan Saima SG in the Italian league.

Coaching career

In the 1995/96 season Alexandrov took over as coach at the Kazakh team Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk. At the same time he became the head coach of the Kazakh national ice hockey team, which he led in Nagano for eighth place at the Olympic Games.
