Boris Eifman

Boris Eifman Yakovlevich (Russian Борис Яковлевич Эйфман; born July 22, 1946 in Rubtsovsk ) is a choreographer and artistic director of a ballet named after him in St. Petersburg.

Life

He studied at the Academy of Music in Chisinau and then at the Leningrad State Rimsky- Korsakov Conservatory. In 1977 he founded the Leningrad New Ballet (today the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet - Theater ).

Eifman was, inter alia, honored as People's Artist of Russia, the Golden mask and with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Today he staged with the Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg, which undertakes worldwide touring schedule.
