Boris Rousson

Boris Rousson ( born June 14, 1970 in Val- d'Or, Quebec ) is a retired German - Canadian ice hockey goalie and since 2010 assistant coach of the Hamburg Freezers.

Career

Boris Rousson began his career in 1987 in the Canadian Junior Football League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he played two years for Laval Titan and the Granby Bisons. He then moved to the American Hockey League with the Binghamton Rangers, the former farm team of the New York Rangers. There ungedraftete played the goalkeeper from 1991 to 1994, received at the time but no use for the NHL team. That's why he decided to move to Europe and one joined the Finnish first division Rauman Lukko. After a few games, he became the top player and was in October 1994 Player of the Month in the SM -Liiga. In the same year he was also voted the best goalkeeper in the league and the All- Star team.

After two more years in Finland, Rousson decided in 1997 to a move to Sweden to Färjestad BK. However, he changed after only one year on to Germany in the DEL. The Kölner Haie took the goalkeeper under contract, but he stood there in competition with Joseph hot and received only a few missions from the beginning. That's why he joined the 1999/00 season the newly founded Munich Barons on. He immediately became German champion and reached the finals again a year later, the Barons lost but towards Mannheim.

In 2001 he was elected to the All- Star team of the DEL. As the license of the Barons was given to Hamburg, Rousson moved around and joined the Freezers at. Although Freezers could not build on the success of the Munich predecessor, but Rousson has always been one of the best goalkeepers in the league. He was invited to the All- Star game in 2005.

In August 2007, Canadian-born received German citizenship, and took since then no more foreigners license. For the season 2007/ 08 he moved to the Kassel Huskies in the second Hockey League, where he was the necessary support for the resurgence in the DEL. He came in the 2008 /09 season until mid-December to some inserts in the DEL, but still finished during the season due to persistent knee problems his career.

On 8 May 2009 the leaders Hamburg Freezers announced in a press release that Rousson will work from the season 2009/10 as a goalkeeper coach for the club. The German - Canadians returned thus back to the club for which he was already between 2002 and 2007 in the gate. After the signing of Stephane Richer as head coach Rousson was for the 2010/11 season assistant coach of Freezers.
