Borland Sidekick

Sidekick is a software from Borland in 1983, which made it possible to bring issues of application programs and transversely to the paper, for example, in the case of extremely wide print editions a spreadsheet.

Programs from the early days of personal computers that were still running under MS- DOS as the operating system, this option is not yet offered in general. They brought with them all their own printer drivers so that no assistance was also possible from this page. Sidekick was then loaded as a so-called TSR drivers before the application, and ran as an additional driver in the background and could manipulate any printer output accordingly.

Later, Sidekick developed into a whole package with other useful ancillary services.

Nowadays, such utilities are no longer necessary, since on the one hand and on the other hand, application programs printer drivers offer this cross - Print as a natural option across the board.
