Born in the USA is the seventh studio album by Bruce Springsteen. It was published in 1984 and is Springsteen's by far the best-selling album. It held, inter alia, in the U.S., the UK and Germany for weeks on the first place of the charts. In the USA Born in the USA was 139 weeks in the charts and was 15 million copies sold. The seven singles on the album all reached the Top 10
In 2010 Born was released in the USA on CD along with six other previous albums on the CD box set The Collection 1973 - 84
Background
The album contains - in contrast to the previous album Nebraska - radio -friendly songs on which Springsteen uses a synthesizer for the first time.
The album was also the first CD produced in the United States. The CDs previously sold in the years were all imported from Japan. A total of seven singles from the album were released, which all reached the top 10 on the U.S. charts.
