Borore

Borore is a place in the province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia with 2181 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Borore is located 57 km west of Nuoro.

Borders the following municipalities: Aidomaggiore (OR), Birori, Dualchi, Macomer, Norbello (OR), Santu Lussurgiu (OR), Scano di Montiferro (OR).

In Borore are the giants grave Imbértighe, Nuraghes Imbértighe and Porcarzos as well as the church and the giants grave Santu Bainzu.

Former airfield

In Borore there was one of the oldest airfields of Sardinia ( ⊙ 40.2247388888898.8121277777778 ). It was set up in 1919 to handle the air mail between Cagliari and Sassari - Monserrato - Ottava and Terra Nova. 1940 transferred to the Aero Club Cagliari because of the Second World War from space and safety of Monserrato after Borore, where he was active until 1942. From 1942 to 1944 took advantage of Italian, German and Allied military squadrons the airfield at short notice, after which he remained until its official abandonment in 1996 deserted most of the time. In recent years, horse races were held on the premises.
