Borough of Ashford

Ashford is a local government district with the status of a borough in the county of Kent in England. In addition to the city Ashford, the county seat, it also includes a number of villages in the area; the second largest town of Tenterden is. The district is still dominated largely rural, but has been gradually turning into a major industrial and services center. Reason, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the Ashford International Station, where numerous Euro Star trains stop.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Borough Tenterden, Ashford District of the Urban and Rural Districts of East Ashford, West Ashford and Tenterden.
