Borough of Dartford

Dartford is a local government district with the status of a borough in the county of Kent in England. In addition to the city Dartford, the county seat, it also includes some villages in the area. The village of Swanscombe is known for numerous excavations from the Paleolithic.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Municipal Borough Dartford, the Urban District Swanscombe and part of Dartford Rural District.
