Borrell, Count of Osona

Borrell was a minister of the Carolingians in the Spanish market in the 8th and 9th centuries. He is possibly the progenitor of the House of Barcelona.

In the year 798 the civitatem Ausonam is called as the seat of Burrello Comiti, so officiated as Count in the county Osona. He is probably identical with that Burellum that around the year 809 led a failed campaign against the Moorish Tortosa together with Margrave Berà. Borrell of Osona are also the counties of Urgell and Cerdanya zurgeschrieben.

Borrell of Osona is drawn as the progenitor of the later Catalan-Aragonese dynasty into account, based on a document of Emperor Louis the Pious, from the year 829 This was confirmed by the emperor his henchman Sunicfredo ( Sunifred I of Barcelona? ) The ownership of goods in pago Narbonensis, who had once received his father Bosrello ( Borrell of Osona? ) of Emperor Charlemagne.
