Borroloola

Borroloola is a small town in the Northern Territory of Australia. The place is located at the McArthur River within the Narwinbi Aboriginal Land Trust, about 50 kilometers south of the mouth of the river into the Gulf of Carpentaria and about 1000 kilometers south-east of Darwin. Borroloola is the administrative center of Australia's Gulf region. Of the 773 residents are about 579 Aboriginal people.

In the area of Borroloola zinc, lead and silver are mined. Borroloola is known for its good fishing especially for barramundi.

Borroloola was mentioned in 1885 for the first time. At that time it was the place as an outpost of civilization and stronghold for illegal activities such as smuggling.
